Surge arresters - SPD type 2

Type 2 SPDs or surge arresters are surge protection devices designed as a second level of protection for equipment against the effects of surges caused by indirect or remote lightning strikes, or switching surges. They are intended for the discharge of lower energies and are located at the interface of LPZ1 and LPZ2 zones. Protection is provided once, i.e. after disconnection the arrester must be replaced. In the case of a modular design, only the disconnected module is to be replaced.
